Michael Haines was born on March 22, 2002, in Schererville, Indiana. Growing up in northwest Indiana, he developed an early interest in the outdoors. Camping, fishing, hiking, and exploring eventually became more than hobbies—they became the foundation for his interest in survival.
As a teenager, Michael began teaching himself basic survival skills, including fire starting, shelter building, water collection and purification, navigation, outdoor cooking, fishing, trapping, knot tying, first aid, and identifying useful plants and natural resources.
He became especially interested in learning how to survive with limited equipment. Rather than relying entirely on modern gear, Michael wanted to understand the fundamental skills behind the equipment and how to improvise when necessary.
As his knowledge grew, he expanded into wilderness survival, emergency preparedness, disaster response, food storage, self-reliance, camping, and homesteading skills.
Michael continued developing his abilities through hands-on practice, outdoor trips, research, and studying traditional survival methods. He believes survival skills are most valuable when they are practiced before they are needed.
Eventually, Michael began writing about survival and preparedness and became a contributor to Survival Boys. His work focuses on teaching practical skills that ordinary people can learn and use.
His philosophy is simple:

Today, Michael continues developing his survival skills and sharing what he learns with the Survival Boys community.
